Abstract
Project Kappa was a project to make an inexpensive, easy to handle, two-stage solid propellant, sounding rocket. Developments in 1959–60 could be classified into three fields. The first program was the refinements and extended actual service use of Kappa-6, which had been developed for IGY-1957/58. A newly developed propellant of higher specific impulse is used for the new Kappa-6, designated as Kappa-6H. Altitude performance at 80 degrees launching angle is increased from 60 km to 80 km, with the same payload.
