Zusammenfassung

Auf feinem Felde der Verwaltung war, unter den vorigen Regierungen so viel experimentiert morden, als auf dem der Domänen. Administration, Zeitpacht und Erbpacht waren in buntem Wechsel einander gefolgt, ein System hatte das andere abgelöst, ehe es noch vollständig zur Durchführung gelangt war, so daß die entgegengesetztesten und unvereinbarsten Bewirtschaftungssysteme teilweise neben einander bestanden. So kam es, daß eine allgemeine Unsicherheit über die bei der Verwaltung leitenden Grundsaße herrschte. Hierzu kam noch die Ungewißheit über die rechtliche Ratur der Domänen, ihre Einteilung in Chatullämter und eigentliche Domänenämter und die Kompliziertheit der vermiedenen Kassen- und Kontrollebehörden. Alle diese Übelstände nahmen unter Friebrich Wilhelm fast mit einem Schlage ein Ende. Wie der König für die Landwirtschaft ganz besonders beanlagt war, so ist auch die Domänenverwaltung derjenige Zmeig der Staatsverwaltung, auf dem die Regierung Friebrich Wilhelms I. die glänzendsten und staunenswürdigsten Erfolge erzielt hat.
