Abstract
One of the defining capacities of humans is that of being able to make decisions. We shall consider decision making problems in which a decision maker (DM) has to choose among a finite number of alternatives according to some criteria. Since this is not always a routine task, some kind of rational help may be of value to DM’s. Scientists have approached this problem developing more or less sound theories, models and concepts leading to decision aids. Essentially, these are calculation procedures or rules such that filled in with the proper data they give us a ranking of the alternatives, or the best ones, or a subset of good ones.
