Abstract
After having been employed in both large and small urban areas, the next level of application for TOPAZ naturally was regional. The geographic area of concern for a region can be quite diverse, however. It may range in size anywhere from several small counties to large sections of the world. A study to be described in the first part of this chapter focuses on the lower end of this spectrum and is concerned with a four county, one (small) city section of Virginia known as the New River Valley Planning District. Total area in the district is about 4200 km2.
