Zusammenfassung

Zentrales Interesse in der Epidemiologie gilt der Erforschung der Ätiologie von Krankheiten. Oft steht die Quantifizierung einer Assoziation zwischen dem in einer epidemiologischen Studie untersuchten Expositionsfaktor und einer spezifischen Erkrankung, die i.d.R. von weiteren Variablen beeinflußt wird, im Vordergrund. Eine valide Schätzung des Zusammenhangs erfordert eine Berücksichtigung der anderen einflußnehmenden Variablen und somit eine multivariate Form der Analyse.
