Abstract

Videotex is an interactive service part of “telematic” services [1]. It allows users to have access through a telecommunication network to information stored in distant data bases. Although all major countries have developped a videotex service, France is the only one where it is a definite success. The author feels honoured to be invited to present the situation of videotex in France and explain the reasons for this success at the Münchner Kreis conference on “User-Friendly Communication” (München, FRG, March 12–13, 1990).
