Abstract
A model system for timely predictions of type, extent, and duration of hazards after accidental release of toxic subs-tances was developed. The model runs on a workstation and requires a RAM storage capacity of at least 8MByte and an ex-ternal storage of about 40MByte. It requires digital terrain data, measured weather data or access to the output of a pre-diction model, and source information. The terrain influenced wind field can be calculated, if considered neccessary, on a grid down to 100 m using a simple terrain effects model. The model results can be presented on the screen or a pen plotter. In addition to the concentration or dose contour lines, the availabel terrain information can be displayed.
