Abstract
This paper is concerned with a model for generating links between texts. These links are used for transferring unstructured samples of newspaper articles into a hypertext-like organization. The generation of links is carried out on the basis of a structural description of each individual text comprising a hierarchy of topics. Topic-structures are the result of partial text-parsing. Intertextual links are generated by relating different texts according to their topicstructure. Linking of texts in such a way leads to a more adequate arrangement of news than an accumulation in a stack of unconnected files.
