Abstract
Surgery under endoscopic guidance and video monitoring is a new technique in the field of otology. It has necessitated the development of teleotoscopes of appropriate diameter and length, while conforming to the requirements of the optical components involved in their manufacture. As regards their diameter for use via the EAM, our anatomic studies have shown that the distance between the handle of the malleus and the bony margin of the acoustic meatus always exceeds 3 mm (fig. 27). Hence, we chose a diameter of 2.7 mm.
