Zusammenfassung

Die Kastration — Beseitigung der Geschlechtsdrüsen eines Organismus — ist ein Eingriff, der seit den ältesten Zeiten bekannt und ausgeführt ist, und zwar besonders beim männlichen Geschlecht. In der griechischen Mythologie ist davon die Rede, wo die Priester der Göttin Kybele sich selbst verstümmelten; sowohl Herodot wie auch Aristoteles erwähnen die Kastration von Sklaven bei den Griechen, und auch in der Bibel begegnet man der Kastration als einem bekannten Begriff. Die Kastration von Frauen scheint ebenfalls bekannt gewesen zu sein.
