Abstract
According to Hax and Candea (1984, p. 325), a project is a complex and large scale one-of-a-kind product or service, made up by a number of component activities, that entails a considerable financial effort and must be time-phased, i.e. scheduled, according to specified precedence and resource requirements. Examples for projects are (cf. Levy et al. (1963) and Hax / Candea (1984)):

Construction (of buildings, infrastructure, new plants etc.).

Manufacture and assembly of large products (like ships, generators etc.).

Repair and maintenance (of nuclear plants, oil refineries, etc.).

Design, development, and marketing of new products.

Development and launching of new complex systems (like space missions etc.).
