Zusammenfassung
Die Individualität des Gebisses basiert auf zahlreichen Vergleichspunkten (Variablen) der 20 bzw. 32 Zähne (Über- oder Unterzahl, Stellungsanomalien sowie Fehlbildungen), von denen wiederum jeder 5 anatomische Flächen aufweist. Für ein vollbezahntes Gebiss errechnen sich 3,8 × 104 mögliche Restaurationszustände [28]. Je größer die Anzahl quantitativer und qualitativer Vergleichspunkte ist, desto zuverlässiger ist der Vergleich. Computermodelle haben gezeigt, dass es dazu mehr als 2, 5 Mrd. Variationen gibt [17, 60].
