Super-Deep Continental Drilling and Deep Geophysical Sounding

Part of the book series: Exploration of the Deep Continental Crust ((EXPLORATION))

Abstract

There is no doubt among scientists and geological and drilling engineers that ultradeep drilling for scientific purposes is a matter of current interest today. This was promoted by the progress in execution of the USSR Continental Research Drilling and USA Deep-Water Research Drilling projects. (Kozlovsky 1984; Petzet 1985; Huey and Storms 1985.)
