Abstract

There is a great interest in studying the radiative decay scheme of atoms doubly ionized in the same inner shell because it gives direct information on interaction of the vacancies involved, on the use of intermediate coupling in various atoms and, indirectly, on the probability of double ionization in heavy ion collisions and in photoionization. It can happen, in fact, that correlation effects change the probability by more than one order of magnitude.
