Abstract
In this work the K edge of two tetrahedral, three distorted trigonal bipyramidal and one octahedral Co(II) complex and of the cobalt derivatives of superoxide dismutase, carbonic anhydrase, stellacyanin and alcohol dehydrogenase are investigated and the properties of their X-ray absorption spectra are compared. The X-ray absorption data were taken at the synchrotron Radiation Facility PULS of the Frascati National Laboratories. The Co(II) proteins were prepared as described in [1], Tetrahedral Co(imidazole)2 (acetate)2 and Co(aptsz)2I2 were prepared according to [2,3]; trigonal bipyramidal Co(atsz)2Cl2H2O, Co(atsz)2I2·2H2O and Co(S2PPh2)2C9H7N according to [3]; octahedral Co(bipyridyl)3 perchlorate according to [4].
