Abstract
Hemorrhagic shock means loss of oxygen-carrying erythrocytes and plasma. The therapy must take both of these components into account, as the main task is to provide tissues with an adequate supply of oxygen. This depends not only upon the number of circulating erythrocytes but also on many other factors, whose importance is discussed in the following paragraphs.
