Zusammenfassung
Die Netzhaut erfaßt einen Bereich von Reizparanietern, der von den für das Verständnis dieser biologischen Funktion herangezogenen Modellen nicht ohne weiteres verarbeitet werden kann. Tatsächlich schließen sich allerdings extreme Leistungen wie die Erfassung kleinster Leuchtdichten und schnelles zeitliches oder auch räumliches Auflösungsvermögen gegenseitig aus, und es bedarf, um diese Möglichkeiten auszuschöpfen, eines zeitfordernden Umstellungsprozesses, der Adaptation. Diese beinhaltet weiterhin neben einer spektralen Verschiebung (Purkinje-Effekt) eine Verlagerung des optimalen Intensitätsauflösungsvermögens in denjenigen Leuchtdichtebereich, auf den adaptiert worden ist, weshalb in einer Kritik zum Weber-Fechnerschen Gesetz die Adaptation von Ranke (38) als Bereichseinstellung im technischen Sinne beschrieben worden ist.
