Abstract

The administration of Corynebacterium parvum to experimental animals produces strong and complex modifications of both specific and nonspecific mechanisms of defence against invading bacteria or tumor cells [4, 17]. These modifications are essentially:

  1. 1.

    Stimulation of production of humoral antibody [15].

  2. 2.

    Induction of cell-mediated immunity [15].

  3. 3.

    Stimulation of the phagocytic function of reticuloendothelial phagocytes [9, 16, 17].
