Abstract

This report describes preliminary observations of immunological function on 7 patients with bone marrow grafts. Three patients with aplastic anemia were prepared for grafting with cyclophosphamide (CY) and received marrow from HL-A-matched siblings [7, 10]. Four patients with hematological malignancy were prepared for grafting with whole body irradiation; 2 of these patients received marrow from an identical twin [6], and 2 patients received marrow from an HL-A-matched sibling [8, 9]. Table 1 summarizes the clinical and hematological data in these patients. None of these patients had significant graft-versus-host (GVH) disease and none has, as yet, shown recurrence of disease. Thus, immunologic parameters could be studied in the absence of these 2 important variables.
