Abstract

Up till now the two adjoining crystals have been idealized as two interpenetrating point lattices. The 0-lattice with its cell structure introduces an ordering into the interpenetrating lattices. The next step is the choice of the boundary. Once the boundary is chosen, the atoms will occupy, on the one side of the boundary the positions of crystal 1, and on the other side those of crystal 2. The boundary itself is a remnant of the 0-lattice structure.
