Zusammenfassung

Wenige Jahre nach Einführung der Fiberglasoptik in die Endoskopie durch Hirschowitz im Jahre 1958 wurden erste Versuche unternommen, das Duodenum zu inspizieren. Die Angabe von Hirschowitz, daß in etwa 50% der Fälle der Bulbus duodeni mit den damals zur Verfügung stehenden Instrumenten eingesehen werden könne, wurde von anderen Endoskopikern nicht bestätigt. 1966 gelang Watson die direkte Betrachtung der Vaterschen Papille auf endoskopischem Wege. 1968 berichtete schließlich McCune über eine erste Intubation der Vaterschen Papille unter duodenoskopischer Sicht mit retrograder Pankreaticographie. Demising u. Mitarb. führten im gleichen Jahr endoskopische Untersuchungen des Duodenums mit verschiedenen Prototypen aus. Da die japanischen Firmen Olympus und Machida zur selben Zeit bereits serienreife Duodenoskope entwickelt hatten, waren japanische Gastroenterologen, unter ihnen Oi, Kozu, Hara und andere, die ersten, die die retrograde Cholangiographie als Routinemethode durchführten. Auf den großen internationalen Endoskopiekongressen in Rom, Kopenhagen und München 1970 konnten dann erste Erfahrungen mit dieser neuen Methode ausgetauscht werden.
