Multiple Criteria Decision Making Theory and Application

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Economics and Mathematical Systems ((LNE,volume 177))

Abstract

This article intends to integrate the findings in psychology, optimization theory and the common wisdom of our daily lives so that the basic forces in human decision/behavior and the ways to happiness and success can be more clear. First we propose a dynamic human decision/behavior model which incorporates the findings in experimental psychology. Eight hypotheses are used to summarize the behavior base for decision/ behavior. Using the model, we then discuss habitual domains, their formation, expansion and jumping out of previously restrictive ones. Some related findings in social psychology are also sketched with their relevance to our model. Finally the article focuses on the applications including selfawareness, happiness, success, decision making, persuasion, negotation, gaming and career management.

This is an abridged version of [27]. The main concepts are kept with application details omitted.
