Abstract
The information communication and processing industry in our present day society has exhibited rapid development in the past thirty years. The phenomenal growth of this industry is due to the opening of a great many possibilities through the introduction of an online real time system which can electrically connect computerised information processing with the telecommunications system. The decisive factor in the industry’s development was the invention of the semiconductor and the subsequent development of computers and digital technology. In particular, digital technology is now being used extensively in society because it is highly effective in reducing noise levels, upgrading the systems reliability and cutting costs: hence the current expression, digital age.
