Abstract

Telecommunications has become a major topic in both the scholarly literature and the popular literature. Early forms of telecommunications, e.g., the telephone and telegraph have had a substantial impact on the way business is done’. More advanced forms of telecommunication will produce additional impacts. Restructuring related to telecommunications can be expected but it is likely to be marginal’, not absolute’, i.e., it is more likely that existing patterns and trends will be reinforced than it is that totally new patterns will be created.
