Abstract
Within the period of time covered by this review, i.e., 1976–1978, again many reviews, symposia, and books on nitrogen fixation have appeared. Some of them are of a more or less general nature (BOTHE, 1976; BRILL, 1977; SHANMUGAM et al., 1978; and the symposia edited by NEWTON and NYMAN, 1976, and NEWTON et al., 1977); others stress mainly biological (HARDY and SILVER, 1977), biochemical (MORTENSON, 1978a; WINTER and BURRIS, 1976; ZUMFT, 1976a,b), or chemical aspects (CHATT, 1977; CHATT et al., 1978). Problems concerned with agriculture and with the utilization of nitrogen fixation have been treated by EVANS and BARBER (1977), HARDY and GIBSON (1977), HOLLAENDER (1977), POST-GATE (1977), and STEWART (1976).
