Zusammenfassung

Dieser Beitrag hat Aufstieg und Fall des “klassischen Wohlfahrtsstaates” in Großbritannien zum Thema. So bezeichnen die Historiker mittlerweile den Typus von Wohlfahrtsstaat und die Wohlfahrtsideale, die in Großbritannien grob gesprochen von den 1940er bis in die 1970er Jahre hinein Gültigkeit hatten. Es gibt in Großbritannien noch immer einen riesigen Wohlfahrtsapparat, der gemeinhin als Wohlfahrtsstaat bezeichnet wird und zum Teil auch noch auf die Reformen zurückgeht, die 1942 im Beveridge Report vorgeschlagen wurden. Gleichwohl handelt es sich nicht mehr um den Wohlfahrtsstaat von Beveridge, Attlee und Bevan.
