Abstract
The history of cancer genetics in humans reflects interest in the occurrence of familial concentrations of cancer in families for over several hundred years; however, well-controlled systematic studies with pathologic correlations have been in progress for less than half a century. Primary work in the field has involved pedigree analysis, twin studies, and studies of large series of cancer probands and their families contrasted with comparable control groups.
