Innovationen in Nonprofit-Organisationen

Zusammenfassung

Die Literatur zur Innovationstätigkeit in Nonprofit-Organisationen (NPOs) ist spärlich. Anhand von zwei Krankenhaus-Fallstudien werden Vermutungen zum Verlauf und zu den Erfolgsaussichten von NPO-Innovationen angestellt. Es zeigt sich, daß nachhaltige Krisen als Folge drastischer Leistungszielverfehlungen und Ressourcenengpässe wichtige Innovationstreiber sind. Fehlende Marktkräfte begünstigen die Bildung von Innovationsstaus, die nur durch radikale Innovationsschritte aufgelöst werden können.

Abstract

Literature on the innovation work in Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs) is sparse. Two hospital case studies offer insights into the process and succes of innovations in NPOs. The studies demonstrate that crises caused by tremendous performance deficits or the lack of resources are important generators of innovation. The lack of market forces encourages the emergence of „innovation jams” which can only be removed by radical innovations.
