Zusammenfassung
Die systematische Nomenklatur der Medizin wurde Mitte der 70er Jahre vom American College of Pathologists durch Erweiterung der systematischen Nomenklatur der Pathologie (SNOP) entwickelt und an verschiedenen Institutionen des Gesundheitssystems im angelsachsischen Sprachraum erprobt. Die weltweite Resonanz war so positiv, daß 1976/77 die erste Ausgabe von SNOMED unter Berücksichtigung der aus der Pilotphase erhaltenen Anregungen und Erfahrungen publiziert wurde [1]. Diese Arbeit wurde federführend von R. A. Côté, Quebec, und D. J. Rothwell, Milwaukee, als den für Nomenklaturfragen zustandigen Mitgliedern des American College of Pathologists geleistet.
