Summary

Medial meniscectomy was investigated for progress and consequences and also for the suitability as an osteoarthrosis model. Six sheep underwent medial meniscectomy. Six months p.op. the joints were grossly and micromorphologically examined. A grossly remarkable osteoarthrosis in the medial part could be confirmed histologically. There were also preosteoarthrotic alterations in the lateral part of the joint. The “regenerated menisci” were histologically composed of scar tissue. Medial meniscectomy in sheep results in osteoarthrotic deformities in both compartments of the jont.

Zusammenfassung

Verlauf und Konsequenzen einer medialen Meniskektomie sowie die Möglichkeit eines Arthrosemodells wurden experimentell überprüft. An 6 Schafen erfolgte eine mediale Meniskektomie. Nach 6 Monaten wurden die Gelenke makro- und lichtmikroskopisch untersucht. Eine makroskopisch auffällige Arthropathia deformans im medialen Kompartment konnte lichtmikroskopisch bestätigtwerden. Außerdem fanden sich präarthrotische Veränderungen im lateralen Kompartment. Die gefundenen „Meniskusregenerate“ bestanden histologisch aus Narbengewebe. Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen das Auftreten einer Gonarthrose nach Meniskektomie sowohl im medialen als auch im lateralen Kompartment.
