Abstract

The thalamic, associational and commissural connexions of the suprasylvian gyrus of the cat have been studied by means of the Nauta technique. Individual cortical fields were identified on the basis of their connexions and were correlated with existing functional and architectonic subdivisions of the gyrus. the parcellation of the gyrus on the basis of connexions (Fig. 22) agrees quite closely in those parts in which existing architectonic maps are in agreement with one another but diverges quite considerably in those parts in which the architectonic maps are in disagreement. The latter is particulary noticeable in regions in which there are no clear-cut architectonic boundaries.
