Zusammenfassung
Ebenso wie Blutgefäße nahezu überall in unserem Körper vorhanden sind, so gibt es auch zwischen ihnen in unseren Organen und Geweben so gut wie überall Lymphgefäße. Während aber die Blutgefäße zu einem vollkommen geschlossenen System gehören, welches dem Blute eine ständige Zirkulation, den Blutkreislauf, gestattet, nehmen im Gegensatz dazu die Lymphgefäße aus dem peripheren Gewebe ihren Ursprung und finden zentral in zwei großen Stämmen, die in die Venen des Halses einmünden, ihr Ende. Sie stellen, bildlich ausgedrückt, ein Drainagesystem an der Seite des Blutgefäßsystems dar, welches die aus den Blutgefäßen herstammende Gewebsflüssigkeit des Körpers in Form der Lymphe aufnimmt, und diese Flüssigkeit wieder als solche in das Blut zurückbefördert. Dabei wird ein großer Teil der Schlacken aus dem Gewebe mitgenommen und weggeschafft, wie auch die Lymphgefäße zum Transport von Sekretionsprodukten vieler Art in Anspruch genommen werden. Die Lymphgefäße, die von dem Darmkanale ihren Ursprung nehmen, dienen daneben vor allem auch als Transportweg der meisten hier aufgenommenen Nahrungsstoffe.
