Zusammenfassung

Der endoskopische Ultraschall (EUS) wird seit etwa 10 Jahren in der gastroenterologischen Diagnostik eingesetzt. Neben der Möglichkeit, die Wandschichten des Gastrointestinaltrakts darzustellen und dies für das präoperative Tumorstaging beim Ösophagus-, Magen- und Dickdarmkarzinom nutzbringend einzusetzen [1–3], stehen vor allem retroperitoneale Organe im Zentrum des endosonographischen Interesses. Pankreas und extrahepatische Gallenwege liegen Duodenum und Magen unmittelbar benachbart und können so mit der relativ geringen Eindringtiefe des EUS gut erreicht werden. Die endosonographische Bildauflösung ist sehr gut, so daß Läsionen ab einer Größe von ca. 2–3 mm erkannt werden können.
