Die progressiv-dystrophischen Myopathien

Zusammenfassung

1879 schrieb Gowers über die dystrophischen Erkrankungen der Muskulatur, diese seien auf Grund ihrer ebenso eigenartigen wie mysteriösen Natur eines der interessantesten Leiden, zugleich aber eines der traurigsten für denjenigen, der sich damit befaßt, angesichts der Machtlosigkeit, deren Verlauf zu beeinflussen. Dieses Wort gilt leider bis heute bezüglich aller medikamentösen Maßnahmen, wie sie bisher in großem Umfang versucht und oft auf Grund eines zwar psychologisch verständlichen, aber nicht konkret begründbaren Optimismus vertreten wurden. Milhorat stellte 1954 eine Liste von 45 empfohlenen Therapieformen auf, die auf Grund kritischer Überprüfung als wirkungslos bezeichnet werden mußten (vgl. Tabelle IX.1). Daneben werden weitere 29 Medikamente aufgezählt, deren Wirkung fraglich ist und die noch eingehender zu überprüfen wären.
