Zusammenfassung
Atemwegsobstruktionen sind sehr häufige Erkrankungen. Es besteht eine ausgesprochene Altersabhängigkeit. Schon im Kindesalter, sehr häufig, wo sie nicht ganz selten auch deletär endet, nimmt die Atemwegsobstruktion mit der Pubertät zunehmend ab, um dann von Jahrzehnt zu Jahrzehnt wieder häufiger zu werden. Bei 50-70jährigen lassen sich erhöhte Strömungswiderstände bei ca. 20% der Bevölkerung nachweisen (Ulmer u. Reichel 1970).
