Zusammenfassung

In den letzten Jahren wurde im Zentralnervensystem außer den als klassische Neurohormone des Hypothalamus bekannten Oligopeptiden eine wachsende Zahl von weiteren Peptiden gefunden. Da ein Teil dieser Peptide ursprünglich in Nervenzellen und -fasern oder sekretorischen Zellen des Gastrointestinaltrakts entdeckt wurde, ist für mehrere dieser Peptide auch die Bezeichnung „Neuro-Gastrointestinopeptide“ gebräuchlich. Eine physiologische Funktion dieser Peptide im Zentralnervensystem ist nur zumTeil gesichert. Tabelle 1 gibt eine Übersicht über die bisher bekannt gewordenen Peptide im Zentralnervensystem.
