Zusammenfassung
Unter Hypogonadismus wird eine Störung der endokrinen und/oder exokrinen Hodenfunktion verstanden. Die Ursache für einen Hypogonadismus kann entweder in den Testes selber lokalisiert sein, in den übergeordneten steuernden Organen Hypothalamus und Hypophyse, in den Zielorganen der Androgene oder im Transportsystem für Androgene (Tabelle 1). In den letzten Jahren hat die Forschung gerade auf dem Gebiete der zentralen Steuerung der Hodenfunktion erhebliche Fortschritte gemacht, und es ergeben sich aus den physiologischen Beobachtungen neue Ansätze für Diagnostik und Therapie des Hypogonadismus.
