Zusammenfassung
Ende der 50er Jahre entdeckten Coover u. Mitarb. das Methyl-2-Cyanoacrylat. Dieser als Eastman 910 bezeichnete Klebstoff wurde bald in der experimentellen Gefäß- und Darmchirurgie und zum Verschluß von Leber-, Milz- und Nierenwunden eingesetzt (Carton et al., 1960; Giebel, 1965; Gibel et al., 1968; Gottlob, 1968 u.a.). Eastman 910 ist wie die übrigen später entwickelten ähnlichen Cyano-acrylat-Kleber hochflüssig. Bei Kontakt mit einer schwachen Lauge kommt es zu einer Polarisierung der Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Doppelbindung im Monomer und nach Verbindung mit der alkalischen Gruppe zu einer Polymerisation im Sinne einer Kettenreaktion (Abb. 1), bis ein saures Ion das Wachstum beendet (Coover et al., 1959; Refojo, 1970).
