Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Stichwort Sucht werden in erster Linie die soziologisch-psychiatrischen Aspekte des Drogenproblems angesprochen, die auch dem gebildeten Laien zugänglich sind. Die somatischen Grundlagen des süchtigen Verhaltens hingegen sind weit weniger offenkundig. Unser heutiges Wissen über die bei der Entwicklung der Arzneimittelabhängigkeit im Gehirn sich abspielenden biochemischen Vorgänge ist noch recht bescheiden; nur an einzelnen Stellen ist es bisher gelungen, einen gewissen Einblick in die Zusammenhänge zu gewinnen.
