Summary
In the paper it is stated that among the 309 cases of hospitalised uveitis, among 142 cases with iridocyclitis and among 167 cases with chorioretinitis, the tuberculotoxical etiology was, the most frequent etiological factor. 47% in iridocyclitis and 80% in chorioretinitis. After irido-cycutis follows the rheumatical etiology (27%), than a mixed infection (some etiological factors blended) producing 17%, and lastly a phocal infection with 4%. From the total number of diseased eyes there were 44% of chronical cases and 38% of recidives.
In the series of clinical and laboratory investigations: The SE, the blood picture, the WAR, the hepatogramm, the electrophoresis of the albumines, the lipides, the transaminasis, the leptirospire, the cold agglutination, the Sabin-Feldmann-reaction, or the Dye-test, our principal diagnostical support, concerning a tuberculosis etiology was a positive cutaneous Mantoux reaction, in a solution of 1:300,000 to 1:500,000, together with some positive constatation of a Chylus-lymphadenopathy. As for the rheumatical etiology the principal support represented an elevated “SE”, together with the radiological constations of the dorsal part of the vertebral column, looking for a spondylosis. The positive Mantoux test in the mentioned solutions is a sign of a high degree of some general allergy for the tuberculosis, maintained by a Chylus focus. It is difficult to imagine that the eye, being such a subtile reactive organ, could remain foreign to such a process. The chronicity number and the mentioned relapses speak in the favour of an exact diagnostical orientation. Together with the data concerning the uveitis frequency and referring to the age and to the mono and b-lateral apparitions, the importance of some completal therapy is underlined, embracing a general and a specific therapy, together with a climate-therapy which was applied in all cases of some tuberculo-toxical etiology.
