Goal Programming Model for Evaluating Hospital Service Performance

Advances in Multiple Objective and Goal Programming

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a G.P. model to design the real performance of a surgical service at a local general hospital. Through the G.P. approach we intend to offer the decision centre a suitable methodology that permits, on the one hand, to analyse the inner coherency of the goals and, on the other hand to know whether it is possible or not to improve the running of the service, taking into account all the real constraints, e.g. spatial occupation, staff availability and financial support.
