Abstract
Production Management is concerned with all the various aspects related to an efficient organization of the production process of goods or services. In this work, we only consider the production planning issues in manufacturing processes. The interested reader is referred to e.g., [Hax and Candea 84], [Giard 88], [Conway et al. 67], for a more detailed treatment of the various planning and scheduling models. Here, we only briefly outline the planning and scheduling decision levels, along with various standard approaches to handle both levels.
