Abstract
The concept of a program package devised by the author and his collaborators at Moscow in 1989–1991 is discussed. The program is based on a special bilinear model for data aggregation which: (i) justifies processing of mixed data, (ii) allows both developing of new clustering methods and using some known ones, and (iii) leads to the decomposition of the squared scatter of the data by the elements of the obtained solution giving a new interpretation for such known pair-wise correlation coefficients as the correlation ratio, chi-square or Goodman-Kruskall’s tau, as well as some new tools to analyse associations between sets of the variables.
