Applying Artificial Intelligence in Designing for Quality
A knowledge-based system is described which is being developed to give advice to engineers in the design of products manufactured in highly automated environments. The aim of the system is to assist a designer to attain the required level of quality of a product at the design stage. A prototype is currently being developed to test this approach in the design of shock absorbers for the automobile industry.
