Equivalent Stochastic Quadratization for Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Systems

Abstract

In this chapter the equivalent stochastic quadratization method previously developed for single-degree-of-freedom systems is extended to multi-degree-of-freedom systems. The method is first developed for a system with a general nonlinearity. The computational effort involved in analyzing this kind of system, however, can be quite expensive. Therefore, a simplified version of the method is also developed for systems which have simpler nonlinearities. The reduced method is exemplified by considering a system with two degrees of freedom.
