Abstract
The use of human judgement in decision models is receiving increasing attention. A variety of approaches have been developed which cover a wide range of techniques and possible applications. For example Belton (1985) using a weighted sector model has applied the methodology to the problem of contract allocation in a clearing bank. Another approach by Roy (1977) called ELECTRE has been used in aiding decisions which assume indifferences towards alternatives. Similarly Cook (1978) has developed a technique based on goal approximation and applied it to R&D project selection. Hence the choice of different models is growing rapidly. However the application in practice has not been clearly documented. Good reviews of the subject are scarce, but some of the ground is covered by Roy (1981).
