Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to provide the theoretical foundation for the empirical analysis of Chapter 3. Section 2.1 presents a simple model which serves as the basis for later developments. Section 2.2 completesthe deterministic model up to its specifications and analyses its theoretical properties and implications. Section 2.3 specifies the model and analyses the properties and implications of the specified model. Finally, Section 2.4 specifies the stochastic structure of the model and discusses appropriate estimation procedures of the unknown parameters.
