Abstract
The introduction of percutaneous transluminal dilatation/recanalization (PTR/PTD) into the routine program of our angiologie team (3, 5–8) has opened further possibilities in surgical problem cases (2, 9). Surgery and PTD are equivalent for the treatment of localized stenoses and segmental occlusions (1, 11, 15, 16). Considering the advanced age of our patients (averaging 65 years), however, PTD represents an alternative that enlarges our therapy spectrum. Our cooperatively obtained results extenuate some critical remarks about PTR published by vascular surgeons (12–14).
