Abstract

For a complex system with one renewal and one readjustment subsystem conditions for the existence of an age-dependent preventive replacement and readjustment policy are given for increasing failure rate as well as for constant failure rate. This policy optimizes either the arising costs or profits per unit time or the system’s efficiency over an infinite planning horizon. The model is discussed with operating costs, replacement and readjustment costs as well as renewal and readjustment times and all of them are increasing with runtime.

In an example with linear cost functions and uno actu maintenance actions a complete solution for the minimization of total expected costs per unit runtime is given.
