Abstract

It is generally accepted that blood levels of glucose, lactate, pyruvate and serum inorganic phosphorus are elevated during ether anesthesia. Disturbed glucose utilization during ether anesthesia is highly suspected and there are some reports concerning xylitol administration in the disturbed status of glucose metabolism.
